Rucking Pace Chart: Pace, mph, km/h, and Time
On this page
Use this chart to convert a steady average moving pace before entering speed into a rucking calculation. Pace is distance divided by time; it does not determine whether a load is suitable or measure calorie burn.
Rucking pace chart: direct answer
Minutes per mile and miles per hour are reciprocal descriptions: mph = 60 ÷ minutes per mile. Convert mph to km/h by multiplying by 1.609344.
Pace conversion chart
| Pace (min/mile) | Speed (mph) | Speed (km/h) |
|---|---|---|
| 24:00 | 2.50 | 4.02 |
| 20:00 | 3.00 | 4.83 |
| 17:09 | 3.50 | 5.63 |
| 15:00 | 4.00 | 6.44 |
| 13:20 | 4.50 | 7.24 |
| 12:00 | 5.00 | 8.05 |
The CalculatorGeek Pandolf implementation supports walking speed up to 2.4 m/s, equivalent to 8.64 km/h or about 5.37 mph.
How to use the chart
Choose the pace that best reflects average moving speed, not a brief fast segment. If a route includes stops, use moving time rather than total elapsed time so distance, speed, and duration remain internally consistent.
Use pace with the other inputs
Speed is only one model variable. Add body mass, pack load, uphill grade, terrain, and moving duration in the Rucking Calorie Calculator. For belt walking, use the treadmill input guide.
