CalculatorGeek publishes calculation tools and explanatory guides for people who need a clear, checkable answer. This policy governs sourcing, writing, updates, corrections, commercial separation, and review claims.
Accuracy and usefulness
Published material should answer the page's stated purpose. Formulas, units, assumptions, examples, and limitations must be specific enough for a reader to reproduce the reasoning. We do not add padded frequently asked questions, unrelated recommendations, or claims that a calculator can settle a decision outside its model.
Sources
We prefer the source closest to the rule or method: official agencies and enacted text for government rules, standards bodies for standards, original research for scientific equations, and current first-party documentation for product behavior. Sources are evaluated for relevance, effective date, population, jurisdiction, and whether they actually support the nearby claim.
A current source can supersede an older one. Time-sensitive pages should name the applicable year or version and should be narrowed or held when the controlling evidence cannot be confirmed.
Examples, estimates, and uncertainty
Worked examples must disclose their inputs and distinguish illustrative values from official rates or typical outcomes. Display rounding should not be confused with calculation precision. An estimate is described as an estimate, and a range created by several formulas is not presented as a confidence interval unless a source establishes that interpretation.
Health, financial, legal, and safety topics
High-impact pages receive stricter scope language and source checks. They must not diagnose, prescribe, promise eligibility, guarantee approval, or replace a qualified professional or the responsible authority. Urgent health or safety concerns should be handled through appropriate local services, not an online calculator.
Review records and bylines
Every published calculator and converter receives an organizational review by the CalculatorGeek Editorial Team. That review covers the user-facing method, labels, examples, sources, and stated limitations. It is separate from independent specialist review and does not imply medical, legal, financial, engineering, or other professional endorsement.
We do not invent individual authors, credentials, specialist reviewers, test histories, or review dates. A person-level or specialist review appears only when the underlying work and accountable record exist. Automated checks may be disclosed as automated checks; they are not described as expert review.
Corrections
Reports are assessed against the current page, calculation definition, tests, and controlling source. Confirmed defects are corrected with focused changes and, for calculation logic, regression coverage. We may clarify a page when its arithmetic is correct but its explanation could cause a reasonable reader to misuse the result.

Ongoing maintenance
Pages may be updated after a source change, a verified correction, a new test case, or a usability review. The methodology page describes the technical workflow. The absence of a recent review record should not be filled with a fabricated date; it should remain an explicit maintenance dependency.
