Turn national age milestones into planning dates

The planner converts India National Immunization Schedule age milestones into calendar dates from a recorded date of birth.

It is a preparation aid, not a replacement for the child’s vaccination card, local programme availability, prior-dose review, catch-up assessment or pediatric advice. Some vaccines apply only in endemic districts or according to current programme policy.

How to use the India Vaccination Schedule Date Planner

  1. Enter the date of birth exactly as recorded.
  2. Choose a planning or review date.
  3. Print the calculated milestone dates.
  4. Compare them with the child’s vaccination record.
  5. Ask the vaccinating clinic which doses are currently due, completed, delayed, contraindicated or covered by a catch-up plan.

Never restart or add a vaccine series from this date list without a record review.

Method and calculation

The 6-week, 10-week and 14-week dates add 42, 70 and 98 days. The 9-to-12-month and 16-to-24-month boundaries use calendar-month arithmetic, and later milestones use calendar years. Month-end dates are clamped to the last valid day of the destination month.

The national schedule includes birth doses, primary infant series, MR and region-dependent JE milestones, boosters and Td at later ages. The calculator presents dates, while the clinic determines applicability and catch-up action.

Worked example

For a Child date of birth of 31 January 2026, the 6-week milestone date is 14 March 2026, the 10-week milestone date is 11 April 2026 and the 14-week milestone date is 9 May 2026. The 9-month window start is 31 October 2026. With a Planning or review date of 1 March 2026, the Next listed milestone date is the 6-week date.

Inputs, outputs and result meaning

The shared CalculatorGeek renderer keeps entered values, calculated results, copied text, printed output and reset behavior in one workflow. The inputs are:

  • Child date of birth: Use the date recorded on the child’s health record.
  • Planning or review date: Used only to identify the next listed milestone on or after this date.

The result contract is:

  • Next listed milestone date: The first listed schedule milestone on or after the planning date, not a clinical due-date decision.
  • 6-week milestone date: Birth date plus 42 calendar days.
  • 10-week milestone date: Birth date plus 70 calendar days.
  • 14-week milestone date: Birth date plus 98 calendar days.
  • 9-month window start: The calendar-month start of the 9-to-12-month schedule window.
  • 12-month window end: The calendar-month end boundary of the 9-to-12-month window.
  • 16-month window start: The calendar-month start of the 16-to-24-month schedule window.
  • 24-month window end: The calendar-month end boundary of the 16-to-24-month window.
  • 5-year milestone date: Birth date plus five calendar years.
  • 6-year milestone date: Birth date plus six calendar years.
  • 10-year milestone date: Birth date plus ten calendar years.
  • 16-year milestone date: Birth date plus sixteen calendar years.

Changing any input makes the previous answer stale until the calculation is run again. Units remain attached to their values, and display rounding does not change the underlying calculation.

Interpretation, safety boundaries and limitations

This planner does not know which vaccines the child already received, whether a dose was valid, which state or district programme applies, whether JE is indicated, or whether a medical condition changes timing. National recommendations and products can change. Confirm the current schedule, stock, prior doses and catch-up pathway with the vaccination provider.

Frequently asked questions

Does a displayed date mean a vaccine is definitely due?

No. It is an age-based planning date that must be reconciled with the child’s record.

What if a dose is late?

Contact the clinic for catch-up guidance rather than inventing a new sequence.

Why are some entries windows?

The national schedule specifies age ranges for several milestones.

Does the tool include every private-market vaccine?

No. It maps the cited National Immunization Schedule.
